  1. The Adaptation Forum is organized by the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Knowledge Platform for Asia (Adaptation Knowledge Platform) and the Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (Adaptation Network).

The NCSP was funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to provide country needs-driven technical and policy support for the preparation of Second, Initial or Third, as appropriate, National Communications (SNCs) from Parties not included in Annex I (NAI Parties) to the United National Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Launched in June 2006, the NCSP has provided assistance to NAI Parties through a variety of support activities: analyses on the priority needs for assistance, organisation of initiation workshops and thematic training workshops, guidance on the design, planning and implementation of technical studies, development of guidance documents, and technical backstopping.

The Adaptation Fund has been established by the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change to finance concrete adaptation projects and programmes in developing countries that are Parties to the Kyoto Protocol. The Fund will be financed with 2% of the Certified Emission Reduction (CERs) issued for projects of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and with funds from other sources.

The ACCCA project draws on lessons learned about communicating climate risk information in clear terms that are relevant to decision-makers; addressing climate risks and adaptation in an integrated, multidisciplinary way; the importance of engaging stakeholders substantively; and the long-term benefits of partnering institutions from scientific and policy communities for understanding and managing climate change risks.

The Climate Change Adaptation in Africa (CCAA) research and capacity development program aims to improve the capacity of African countries to adapt to climate change in ways that benefit the most vulnerable. Building on existing initiatives and past experience, the CCAA program works to establish a self-sustained skilled body of expertise in Africa to enhance the ability of African countries to adapt. The CCAA is a joint program of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada, and the Department for International Development (DFID), U.K.
